Outline of the workshop
The first task is to make a fold over paper character. This game is called Exquisite Corpse, this was a group activity, with the paper passed from person to person each drawing a different element of the figure, i.e. head. torso, lower body and half the legs, bottom of legs and feet.
The final contributor to the image then unfolded the paper to reveal their character and thought of a story for their figure and decide what was to happen to them. i.e. did they go into a cage, or a goldfish bowl or space
Then they will coloured their figures and then stuck their creature to a paper plate and on the other side drew the scenery which tells their story, attached the string and ta dah!, a Thaumatrope. – a simple illusion where related subjects appear to make a single image by spinning a disc of card using string.
